This town theme was pretty much all improv at 5am. Not much to say except that I like how it turned out. Kind of feels like there is a little sense of urgency in it, but not so much that you can’t relax.

Dramatic cue upon entering a foggy, rustic village that had just been ravished by zombies.

A dungeon theme heavily influenced by a dungeon called The Ravine at the end of Valkyrie Profile 2. Valkyrie Profile 2 is actually a very inspiring game to me, due to it’s hazy fantasy soundtrack and great graphics (by far the best on PS2, IMO anyway) filled with somber colors.
Instruments Used: EWQLSO Gold, Battery 3, Garritan Personal Orchestra

My vampire-influenced theme that I wrote for a contest. I had a really hard time with this one, not only because I had to keep it under one minute, but also because nowadays I have no idea how vampires sound like anymore – I blame Twilight for making vampires no longer cool! After about two days of failed motifs, failed ideas, and failed riffs, because I couldn’t think like a vampire enough, here’s what came out – something trailer-esque for a game. I wanted to do another attempt, but ran out of time..
Instruments Used: EWQLSO Platinum, Samplelogic Libraries, EWQL Symphonic Choirs
Some older music I did way back when. Probably before I really knew what I was doing.

One of the very first songs I made on my Yamaha Motif when I still had one. This song is 10 years old. I can’t believe how long ago that is. It’s my iteration of a fight against some Ice Sorceress (not unlike that Frost Queen from Narnia).
Instruments Used: Yamaha Motif, Virus C

A short theme I wrote for piano when I was studying harmony and voice-leading on my own, so there’s some unresolved cadences in there. Think medieval princess theme or something (greensleeves?). I called it Theme of Ellis because Ellis from Toshinden popped into my head and I really couldn’t think of anything else to call it.

Not much to say here, but thought it was a cool dungeon concept.

Winter-influenced fantasy town theme.

Here are some tracks that I made a long, long time ago with Reason 2.0. Just a laptop, and Reason in between my classes. This was back when I pressed TAB on the Reason GUI, and saw the back panel with all the cables and how they WIGGLED. That was damn intimidating.
Now, more cables and plugs = good.

Heavily inspired by Star Ocean 3’s coolest character, Maria Traydor (hence, the title). Written during my break between community college classes. It sounds very much like something I’d hear on the Genesis, like in some Phantasy Star dungeon.

A song Ted and I worked on when we were trying to make some songs that sounded like Persona. Yeah…

A song I put together in one day when my Cousin JC and his friend Ferd came by to visit. They both wanted to record, and this is what came out of it. I’m really surprised at how well the vocals turned out, considering it was just a Nady SCM that I picked up for $40.
Instruments Used: Battery 3, Kontakt, various loops blatantly taken from the multitude of places out there

Sketch of yet another song that did not come into fruition. Saddened.
I really like this song and I wish we were able to finish it. It’s called the throw up remix because Ted and I are clowns while recording.
Instruments Used: Reason, Battery 3

Cool idea that popped into my head while my friend was showing me some B-boy videos.
Needs some rapping!

In attempt to fill up some empty space here, mainly due to my database being wiped, I’ve decided to expose some of my older work. Since this is somewhat a pseudo portfolio, they’ll be brief snippets. These stream from ideas, finished songs, serious, non-serious, pretty much whatever I thought was interesting.
Back some time ago, I used to make a lot of hip-hop, not that it was my forte mind you. It was just fun recording myself, along my friends rapping on top of a track. I’d like to think I sound pretty good on the mic now, but wow, the first few times …ick. LOL. Nowadays, it’s hard to find time to record, and everyone is pretty much far away now. So…not much hip-hop being made, especially with my recent shift to strictly pure orchestral for media, and some electronic. This way, I don’t have to submit myself to the shameful temptation of blatant sampling!
Warning: Some of the tracks below contain inappropriate lyrics!
Anyway…

My friend Jevon’s first rap recording…lol. For his first time, I thought it was pretty damn good. He also used a Logitech chat mic…yeah, gotta work with what ya got. I should get him to rap more. I dunno how I was able to think of sampling that loop because the actual song it came from, sounds NOTHING like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oPuu7-ub1Y). Drums were programmed in Battery 3 and processed with dblue Glitch.

A sketch/rough take of a song that a friend of mine (and his friend who was singing) and I collaborated on that never came into fruition. Would’ve been a hot summer jam.

This was the first vocal recording my friend Ted, my Cousin JC, and I did when I got my Roland Fantom X6. This was also one of the first times we’ve rapped on anything. Haha. I found an interesting arpeggio on the Fantom, and used it as the basis.
Instruments Used: Roland Fantom X, Battery 3

Short loop made by sampling the intro song of the Fate Stay Night anime. Needed a good rapper for this lol. Sounds very Eric Sermon-ish!

As an avid fan of the Soul Calibur series, and as one of the top players in the Northern California Soul Calibur community, I felt compelled to make some kind of Soul Calibur Rap using a bunch of samples from the game. This actually never was completely finished as I just didn’t record anyone else from the team aside from Ted AKA Rayikin, and I. You can hear me rap in this one, in the first verse!
Instruments Used: EWQLSO Gold, Battery 3, Soul Calibur 3, random loops from some collection
Guest Vocalist: Smeagle lol
Yep, WordPress update screwed everything up and my backup is 2 years old. So now is a good time for me to start fresh – something I needed to do eventually. I’m gonna fill in some posts with some older tracks, so this place doesn’t seem so sparse.
